Multi Media Multi Arts Event in Newburgh
Don’t miss this multi media, multi arts event set for September 30th, Saturday evening during one of Newburgh, N.Y.’s highlight annual events, it’s Seventh Annual Open Studios event.
Open Studios is a weekend long event showcasing area artists. It has become a magnet drawing people from across the region who are interested in the Hudson Valley and specifically in Newburgh’s art scene.
Open Studios features Newburgh’s (and the surrounding area’s) creative citizens, and at the same time, the abundant historic real estate that lies within Newburgh’s historic district and beyond, extending into Balmville, just north of Newburgh.
Historic, commercial real estate spaces open up as pop up art galleries, and some resident artists open their homes. For instance, prominent Dutch artist Paulien Lethen, opened her home last year to showcase works she has created as well as the work of her colleague, Marieken Cochius.
City gallery spaces such as The Ann Street Gallery also showcase artists.
This event will take place at 9:00 p.m. as mentioned, on Saturday evening. It will feature local artists, Neil Alexander, Cody Rounds, Ophra Wolf in a collaborative and improvisational interpretation of the ways we encounter and interact with our urban environments.
The artists will use the mediums of dance, music and video projection to explore the ways we experience the city, in other words the urban experience, around us.
Images will be projected on Newburgh Mercantile’s west facing edifice, which faces the Hudson River and Beacon, across the river.
Prior to the performance, a reception will be held inside the establishment, Newburgh Mercantile, which is housed in a beautiful old and historic district building and which features hand made items from the Hudson Valley. Newburgh Mercantile also sells beautiful, hand-crafted picture frames.
This performance has been organized by Newburgh Last Saturdays, which organizes various arts-based activities and events intended to showcase the creative citizens, shops and historic locations of Newburgh, N.Y.
The Newburgh Last Saturday events are held the last Saturday of every month throughout the year, in addition to being held during the Open Studios weekend.
This event is funded in part by Orange County Tourism NY and community members and businesses: Mesh Realty; Newburgh Mercantile; Grit Works; Stacie R Laskin Real Estate; Newburgh Fine Properties and Paul S Ernenwein, Esq; ;Perfect Home123; Mt. Saint Mary College
