Newburgh Last Saturdays Sherpa Guides

Newburgh Last Saturdays has been offering up arts, events, and a focus on food all within (primarily) Newburgh’s historic district, raising awareness about this important, beautiful and historic section within the city of Newburgh and its burgeoning art scene, powered by the creative class of citizens calling Newburgh home.

According to their website, Newburgh Last Saturdays (#nbls)  is a “monthly celebration of the arts, culture, and community in historic downtown Newburgh on the last Saturday of every month.”

And besides raising awareness about the area, the arts, and events, NBLS also raises awareness about the businesses in the vicinity, and non profits contributing to the community.

For instance, this Saturday, August 27th, Safe Harbors hosts a photo exhibit which features three residents of Safe Harbors who have received stellar training from highly respected professionals.

Their focus is on many of Newburgh’s small businesses that have been in operation serving across generations, and the show will also showcase 15 long standing business operators in the City of Newburgh.

The title of the exhibit is Through the Eyes of the Cornerstone Newburgh’s Ole Faithful.

There will be an opening reception at 6:30 p.m., in the lobby of the Ritz theater, 107 Broadway.

How interesting to meet with these pillars of the community and listen in as they reminisce and share stories, histories, and anecdotes about Newburgh. Somebody, Facebook Live this!

The day winds down with live music both at the Wherehouse and at the Newburgh Brewing Company, and of course Ms. Fairfax has a summer end Sancocho, with Decora spinning and mixing a vibe to dance us to the edge of NBLS.

Be there!
