As you may know, the United States federal government has released a very large stimulus package to help small businesses during the COVID-19 crisis.
Those programs should be up and running by the end of this week (April 3rd) and will cover things like payroll, rent, utilities, and, in some cases, even production costs.
The Orange County Industrial Development Agency (OCIDA) will host a free webinar with federal experts on Thursday, April 2nd at 4 PM to help Orange County, NY based businesses affected by COVID-19 understand and utilize the recently passed federal stimulus package, CARES ACT.
Webinar: April 2 at 4:00 pm
The webinar will explain the federal resources available to help local small businesses affected by COVID-19 and how they can apply for and utilize those resources to support their businesses.
Questions for webinar leaders can be submitted during the webinar. Those not responded to immediately will be responded to after the event.

The webinar will be recorded and available on the Orange County IDA’s website (https://www.ocnyida.com/) for people who are unable to join live.
Organize business paperwork for funding
Applications for the federal programs are just opening so business owners should consider pulling together basic financial information in order to be well positioned to apply as soon as the funding becomes available.
Paperwork and information most useful would be similar to what a bank would require for a business loan:
- payroll information
- tax returns or debt information
- sales forecasting
- EINs, etc.
In a separate press release issued last week (week of March 29th, 2020) the IDA announced affected businesses will be able to use the Orange County IDA as a resource to reboot their operations.
Through the recovery program, the IDA will immediately assist businesses to train, rehire and recruit employees; identify and solve supply chain and inventory shortfalls; clean and disinfect facilities believed to be exposed to the COVID 19 virus; provide business rehabilitation guidance; and, as mentioned, help fill out and apply for federal and local grant/loan applications.
The IDA announced it would have its own source of funding available to Orange County business with $500,000 in loans available to businesses that had to shutter because of COVID-19 as well.
